Mission Statement

To create an environment in which an ensemble of actors and artists develop different works in a variety of mediums, using the ideals of community, collaboration, and commitment in order to give power to the voice of the artist, supporting their vision from conception to production.

About Trial By Fire Theatreworks

The newly founded production company Trial By Fire Theatreworks is run by young artists looking to branch out and produce new and provocative works of art in a variety of mediums, including theatre, music, and film.

With bases in Oregon and New York, TBFT founders include local actors and artists Phoenix Vaughn, Julianna Zarzycki, Tara Wibrew, Richard Leebrick, Leslie Murray, Galen Wright-Watson, and Benjamin Newman. Their combined experience in theatre spans decades, and various collaborations among these founders over the last ten years have produced both well-known plays as well as original works playing to sold-out houses, and critical acclaim.

Trial By Fire Theatreworks is dedicated to creating opportunities for young artists who want to tap into their full potential and have their work seen. Trial By Fire Theatreworks believes that live performance is an important and powerful communication tool, a true vessel of the art of storytelling. We believe in community and collaboration. Experimenting with different mediums to create new art is not only exciting, but also valuable. Working in the theatre (or in film or in music or in any creative endeavour) offers room for exploration and experimentation, a chance for artists and audiences to come together in search of new worlds and new truths. This collective curiosity is something Trial By Fire Theatreworks looks to encourage in its artists and its audiences alike.
